Privacy policy
This policy explains what LabReady collects and how student information is used.
Information collected
LabReady collects a student's first name, last name, lesson progress, answers, and scores.
Each student uses a four-digit PIN. The PIN is protected with a one-way hash, salt, and server-side secret. The original PIN is not stored and cannot be viewed by a teacher or the site administrator.
Why it is collected
This information lets students return to their work, saves lesson progress, calculates scores, and helps teachers see which safety topics need more instruction.
Who can see it
A student's classroom record is visible only to the teacher responsible for that class. The site administrator may access records only when needed to operate the service, resolve a problem, protect the site, or complete a deletion request.
How long it is kept
Student records are kept for up to one year after the student's last activity. A teacher may delete a student sooner.
Deletion requests
A student or parent can ask the student's teacher to delete the record. They may also email klitman@schools.nyc.gov. Include the student's name and teacher so the correct record can be found.
Advertising and tracking
LabReady does not sell student data or share it with advertisers. The site does not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
